If you do not pass one or all parts (reading, writing, and math) of the TSI Assessment, you will be required to enroll in developmental education coursework before you can enroll in a college credit course for the subject in which you did not pass. TSI compliance staff will approve each student for the appropriate courses. Approval is based on received test scores and/or by current academic standing.
TAMUCC offers Math 0099 (NCBO) or MATH 0300 - Developmental Mathematics, for students who do not pass the Math portion of the TSI Assessment.
ENGL 0099 (NCBO) or ENGL 0399 - Integrated Reading and Writing, for students who do not pass the reading or writing portions of the TSI Assessment.
This course is designed to provide additional support to students in their effort to meet the standards of their relevant mathematics course. This course is taught in conjunction with the content class of either MATH 1314 (College Algebra) or MATH 1442 (Statistics), giving extra time and utilizing a variety of strategies to help students build a stronger foundation for success in their current and future mathematics courses. This course is a pass/no pass course, meaning that no grades are assigned on completion. Students who complete the required work will pass the course.
Topics include number concepts, computation, elementary algebra, geometry, and mathematical reasoning. Also, linear equations and inequalities, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, quadratics and word problems. May be repeated for credit as needed to complete mastery of all topics. (Not counted toward graduation.) A passing grade of "DC" or above required.
This course is designed to develop student's critical reading and academic writing skills on an individualized basis through tutoring/mentoring. The course fulfills TSI requirements for reading and writing. This course is a pass/no pass course, meaning that no grades are assigned on completion. Students who complete the required work will pass the course.
A portfolio-based course with required tutoring (lab) time focused on the writing and reading processes, including strategies for invention, revision, and editing, and techniques of active reading, such as analysis, inference, summary, and evaluating texts. Students will enter ENGL 0399 through Texas Success Initiative (TSI) mandated remediation. (Not counted toward graduation) (Co-Requisite: ENGL 1302 or COMM 1311) A passing grade of "DC" or above required.
